spike has overheard dimitris talking about being 'finished' with his tests, although the implications of that are certainly grisly. after all, they've made it nothing but clear what they're after: whatever's lodged inside his skull, which they've identified as a chip. apparently it's breaking down, and they want to get to it now before it's entirely destroyed, to study what they can of it.
their discussions of the operation don't seem to include much sensitivity to whether spike survives the op or no.
so here he is, strapped to a gurney and being wheeled into an operating lab, and of course, sarandis orders myri to see the show, because he's a special kind of sadist. she's brought in, broken, defeated as she is, and positioned in a small spare room where she can watch through a glass window. several doctors in stained lab coats pull on gloves and masks, wheeling lights and equipment around spike.
