[Myri asks Spike to come with her, and they check out a car, which she lets him drive, directing him to take them towards London. As they ride, she studies him in the darkness, before finally saying:]   I... meant to ask as well, how you were feeling. I heard people talking about what happened.

[ relief at least sparks in his gaze when he sees them, although he looks warily at lara before answering. ] Sarandis... cut off our escape. There were too many of them.

[ his face contorts into a grimace and he looks away ] Dimitris' taken Thomas captive - alive, for now.

[ again, his eyes flit to lara, and his answer is a bit cagey as he says simply: ] He let me go, to deliver a message.

[bigbad]

[Spike's been taken alive by Dimitris for long enough that he's not sure it's such a good thing. Neither does the message thing, really. Nothing sounds good about anything related to Dimitris, basically.]

And what's that?

[witchwoman]

No... He can't be- [It's all her fault. But they can fix this. They can come back and make this right. Myri follows Jack's gaze to Lara.] She's a friend, Jack. She wants to help us get home.

[dragonsclaw]

That's very kind of you. [ it's said with a weary but sincere gratitude as he nods to her, still leaning on the tree with one hand. ] I think we'd best discuss the rest, however, when we make it back to England.

[bigbad]

[The part of Spike that always wants to go do things screams that they shouldn't go back, that they should go in despite the impossible odds and rescue Thomas.

The part of him that's been tortured for weeks or however long it's been just wants to go home. So does the part that needs to get Myri out of here. He nods.]

Let's get out of here, then.

There's a first-aid kit on the yacht. I'm not certain how much good it will do but... perhaps I can bring some extra supplies out there later.

Come with me. Stay close.

[ and she's gonna lead them out of there to the yacht blah blah hand wavey sneaking around shenanigans x( /pink panther theme plays.

NOW YOU'RE ON A BOAT. below deck, in the cabin, as the vessel rocks gently on the waves where it's parked. lara pulls out said first aid kit and unrolls the sleep away beds to help lower jack down there. ] Don't worry about the sheets. We'll burn them and buy new ones.

[witchwoman]

[Even without her magic, Myri had been trained to treat people for all sorts of injury and ailments. She moves for the first aid kit immediately and looks Jack over with a more critical eye, not simply worrying about him, but assessing what needs to be done to get him patched up enough to make the journey.

The surgery lasts about 3 hours. There's probably a lot of blood, so try not to get too hungry, Spike. Myri's good at what she does, though, and she works diligently through the night (heal/treat injury 29). Perhaps it's good that she's used to getting so little sleep now.]

[bigbad]

[Man Spike is REALLY HUNGRY. And he's eyeing Jack a little too thoughtfully (will 13), so he's just gonna... hang out in a room on the other side of the yacht. Maybe try to sleep with visions of arteries dancing through his head.]

[ his sleep is dreamless actually, which is probably for the best. jack is mostly silent as myri works on him, closing his eyes, brow furrowed as he stews in his thoughts. the atmosphere on the boat is grim through the night, but in the end, she stops the bleeding and gets him functional enough that she doesn't have to worry so much anymore. ] You should try to grab a bit of rest yourself, Myri. I'll keep watch.

[witchwoman]

I don't know if I could sleep if I tried. [She says with flat honesty. Her gaze drops, though.] I'm sorry. If you hadn't been coming for me, Thomas wouldn't be- [Her voice cracks.] I'm so sorry.

[dragonsclaw]

I won't stand for you thinking that way, Myrilandel. And you must realize it's an insult to Thomas to demean what he's done by holding onto guilt over it.

We've heard rumors of the facility for months, considered taking a closer look but been afraid it would be impossible to do so without compromising our cover. It was necessary, however, and we would have gone inside sooner rather than later. Learning you and Spike were held captive merely pushed up our timeline.

[witchwoman]

[She just nods, choosing to keep quiet, because she doesn't want to further upset him with the guilt that she can't shake. All she can think about is what sort of torture Thomas will be made to endure.]

[ the next morning, the boat takes off for england as promised. they all still look and feel like hell, but jack stresses that if they want to try to take the doppelganger by surprise and not give them the advance warning that might allow him to cut and run, it's going to be better to not try to contact anyone there ahead of time.

which means they're sure arriving back at the castle on the eve of elena's squiring party, looking beat to fucking hell yay. ]
