[ With a surprising amount of overall support from the team, Elena gets the opportunity to return to the Waldorf without having to sneak around her teammates, to continue her 'doppel-lessons' from Kyp.

Of course, she doesn't get to go alone, and Spike has volunteered to play guard dog. The hotel is relatively quiet as they arrive this fine evening. ]

Not really, no. Any chance you've already been exposed to high amounts of magic? That this stuff might already be awake in you?

I only have memories of the last ten months of my life. So, yeah, I guess it's technically possible and I just don't remember.

Well, isn't that an interesting possibility. Guess I'll need to stock up on some stronger stuff.

Interesting is one way to look at it. Frustrating is another. There's nothing I can do about it, though.

Can't say I love the idea of stronger stuff. [Even if this one didn't hurt Elena. Too easy to see the stronger stuff going more awry.]

There's no point in making her only immune to the weakest types of magic.

[A muttered aside:]

Well, as far as I know, I can't help you. [Look, he might be able to do it and just not know. Stranger things have happened. He's a freaking vampire.]

Well, it's not. More'n capable of kicking ass with my fists alone. [He tilts up his chin, combative.] Didn't need it against you, did I?

[She turns to look at him, frowning.]

You brought him along to be your intimidating bodyguard and now you're asking him to be nice?

You could both stand to at least be civil.

[Frowny face you guys.]

The bickering is getting old.

[Opposed diplomacy check 11, so he can see her point. He grumbles and settles back again, though all the diplomacy in the world can't stop him from glaring.]

I haven't ripped his lungs out. I thought that was nice.

Well, we didn't exactly get off on the best foot the first day we met.

[And some people hold grudges. Elena still probably wouldn't be here if it wasn't her only shot.]
